Happy Luna Academy is a boutique home-based pre-school pod designed with intention, where childhood is honored and not rushed. At the heart of it all is something simple: as a mother, I would only choose the very best for my child. This space exists because I believe your child deserves the same, an environment that feels safe, elevated, warm, and full of light… where they are known, celebrated, and cared for with intention every single day.
We believe the truest way to receive is to give. When we lead with generosity, consistency, and care, trust is earned and naturally returned.
In our program, trust begins with respect. Every child is treated as a whole person who is capable, sensitive, and worthy of being heard. We speak to children the way we would want to be spoken to, with patience, warmth, and clear boundaries, because dignity builds security, and security allows children to thrive.
We honor a slower, more intentional rhythm. We do not rush children through their feelings or their milestones.
I’m Ratana (Jennifer) Kuhn - the founder and heart behind this program.
Born in Thailand and educated from age nine in the Swiss Alps at Aiglon College, an internationally respected boarding school, I was raised in an environment that paired rigorous academics with an extraordinary connection to nature. Guided by a philosophy of nurturing mind, body, and spirit, my childhood was filled with outdoor experiences such as glacier hikes, camping, skiing, rock climbing, and white-water rafting. Those formative years shaped my belief that childhood should feel intentional, unhurried, and deeply supported.
My work with children has been equally hands-on and international. In Germany I helped run my families in home daycare and later taught young learners German in the French and Swiss Alps.
I hold an undergraduate degree in Management from Regent’s University London and a Master’s in International Business from Hult International Business School (San Francisco). I’m also certified in Pediatric CPR & First Aid and have completed Preventive Health & Safety Training.
As the founder of Brentwood Mamas, a grassroots WhatsApp-based community with 190 active members, I’ve been proud to create a supportive space for mothers navigating the baby and toddler years. In my free time, I host meet-ups at the Lawn and music and art classes for local families, helping foster meaningful connections and a strong sense of community among moms during this special season of life.
I also serve as an advisor to Brentwood Green, the nonprofit that helps keep the playground and science magnet open on Sundays for families enjoying the Brentwood Farmers Market. Through this work, along with writing the Brentwood Mamas column for Living Brentwood magazine, I hope to help build a kinder, more connected community for young families.
